What is a scooter deck?
Scooter deck is a platform with grip tape that the rider's feet stand on. There are several different styles of scooter decks. Some are better for a smoother ride, while others are best for doing tricks at the skatepark. Scooters that professional and amateur riders use are non adjustable and non foldable, as compared to the widely used Razor scooters. This is preferred for freestyle riding, grinding and other scooter tricks.
Types of scooter decks
Scooter deck size will be based on how you plan to ride. The bigger decks are going to be more comfortable, and better for taller people. While the smaller and lighter the decks will be better for riders who want to do more tricks.
Length
Scooter decks range in length from 19” to 22”. You can get longer decks aftermarket, those range from 19.5” to 23.5”. Scooter deck length is measured from one end of the flat side of the scooter to the other. Blunt plate area is not included.
Width
Most scooter decks will have a width of 4” to 5”. You can find aftermarket decks that have 4.5” to 6”.
Park
For park scooter decks, most riders are going to want something that is small and light. Park scooters are going to be mobile, easy to move with and control.
Street
The best scooters for street riding will be wider and more stable for foot support and pushing. You’ll want something a bit more sturdy and a bit larger.
